Our country has a lot of problems, and many of them can be addressed with a more robust mental healthcare system. We can start to heal our country’s violence, reliance on digital media, and addiction issues with investments in mental health. I would aggressively pursue legislation that expands access to mental health resources, especially in rural areas and inner-cities. I would legislate policies that encourage local school districts and state departments of education to require annual mental health screenings for students, to build confidence and comfort with mental health. I would pursue grants to expand the number of mental health professionals to accommodate the growing need.
