LGBTQ Rights
As a recently out member of the LGBTQ community. It is important to me that we continue to support marginalized people, through an idea I call “Neo-Normative Sexuality”.
This is the idea that we must create a new “Normal” in which a spectrum of sexuality is the standard and not the exception. That is to say, that an individual like myself should feel as comfortable sharing my sexuality, as I do maintaining privacy.
While visibility is important and we should always strive to support those bold enough to embrace their sexuality publicly; we also must have an end goal to our resistance, and that lies in a future where alternative sexuality and gender identity are so normalized that it is not a headline when someone “comes out”. We have to make it so normal that it is not controversial when two men appear in an ad as fathers.
We have to make it so that the young trans-woman, who has aspirations to run for office, can do so not as the Trans Candidate but as simply a candidate.
I will support the continued effort to create an Equal Rights Amendment. To ensure that sexuality, and gender are protected social classes. I will support programs that normalize LGBTQ relationships, and people.
